Wall Stencils Add Interest To A Plain Wall

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. An accent wall is an easy way to make a big impact on a space. While wallpaper is pricey and difficult to install, wall patterns offer the same great patterned flair but without the negatives. Today we’re sharing a stencil tutorial showing how easy it is to achieve a wallpaper look using our Arabesque  Brocade Damask Stencil.  Let’s take a look…

We’d like you to welcome back Erika, our in-house creative guru and stencil fan.  Erika spotted a plain wall and felt compelled to paint a stencil pattern on it. A stencil pattern is a great alternative to wallpaper because its affordable and easy.  A Moroccan inspired stencil pattern, like the Arabesque  Brocade Damask Stencil is a great wallpaper alterantive.

For those who love tutorials, Erika has put together this quick video using one of our Moroccan wall stencils.  In this instructional video, Erika shows fans how easy it is to stencil an accent wall using this trendy wall pattern.

Let’s walk through the steps for completing this project. Erika started with a freshly painted light blue wall.  To create an interesting accent wall, she decided to use our Moroccan wall pattern.

Erika was ready to start stenciling once she had her Moroccan trellis inspired stencil in her hand. She carefully taped the stencil to the wall.  Then she used the clip-on stencil level to ensure the pattern was even on the wall.  We love this handy tool when completing a wall project.

She used a four inch dense foam roller to paint the pattern in a neutral gray hue.

Erika made sure she rolled off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel.  Too much paint will cause the design to bleed.  Once the entire design was painted, she carefully removed the Arabesque  Brocade Damask Stencil from the wall to reveal the design.  Seeing the painted pattern is always the fun part!

Since the wall was not complete, Erika lined up the stencil underneath the previously painted pattern.  Our stencil designs make overlapping the previously painted part easy.

For this particular pattern, the top part of the design overlaps the previously painted section.  Once that is lined up, you can continue to paint the design.

After it was lined up and taped to the wall, Erika continued to paint the pretty Arabesque  Brocade Damask pattern.

When the wall was complete, Erika added some stylish touches to her newly stenciled space. She then stepped back to admire the new wall pattern. Are you ready to see how this accent wall turned out?  We thought so!
